Erica will be taking the fourth and fifth graders to learn more about the recycling process at the Resource Recovery Facility. Students will see what happens to the 30 to 50 tons of material that Santa Cruzans place into their blue recycle bins every day. They will learn why it is important to “recycle right” and also see a mountain of scrap metal. The class will stop by Natural Bridges on the way back to eat lunch and to take a peek at the monarch butterflies.
Erica says: Please meet in the Tile room by 8:45 a.m., we will leave by 8:50, just before circle. Students will need to wear closed toed shoes, pants, and bring a warm layer. The facility is located near the coast and half the tour is outside. Students will also need to bring a lunch and a water bottle.
All field trips subject to change.
