Students will depart Orchard before circle, at 8:45. We will arrive at Hartnell College in time to use the bathroom, and have a quick snack before our presentation starts at 10.

We will eat lunch in a park near the planetarium and return to school around 1:00.

Students will need a snack, lunch, and water bottle to leave in the car.

Program description:

Two Small Pieces of Glass follows two students as they interact with a female astronomer at a local star party. Along the way, the students learn the history of the telescope from Galileo’s modifications to a child’s spyglass — using two small pieces of glass — to the launch of the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope and the future of astronomy. Aiming to engage and appeal to audiences of all ages, the show explores the wonder and discovery made by astronomers throughout the last 400 years.
